The Food and Agriculture Organization have recently announced a Call for Submissions under the theme ‘Community Engagement for Inclusive Rural Transformation and Gender Equality‘ – from 9 October to 13 December 2024 through the Global Forum on Food Security and Nutrition.
The main goal of this call is to gather good practices, experiences, and lessons learned on community-led interventions from a wide range of contributors, both within FAO and externally. This will help share knowledge, foster learning, and inform the use and scaling up of community engagement and community-led collective action for inclusive rural transformation and gender equality.
Applicants are encouraged to describe how their practices prioritise meaningful bottom-up participation, community-led action, well-being, inclusivity, and gender-responsive or transformative change.
Submissions will be publicly accessible on the designated webpage and highlighted in the proceedings report, providing enhanced visibility for participants’ work. Additionally, based on relevance and content, FAO may select contributions for inclusion in future knowledge products. FAO are also considering, depending on the quality of submissions, the production of a compendium next year that would feature a curated selection of practices received through this call. All contributions will be fully acknowledged.
There are several ways you can participate in or support this initiative:
- Submit good practices: If you have relevant good practices and experiences and/or relevant research work we invite you to participate by responding to the questions outlined in the submission template (under “Resources”) based on the guidance provided in the background document and the topic note.
