Reality check approach

The RCA is a powerful approach to research for improving the connection between pro-poor policies, their implementation and the people that such policies are suppose to serve. Through both retrospective and longitudinal ‘immersion and listening studies’, RCA offers governments, donors, development programmes and others an opportunity to shed light on whether their policies and interventions are relevant and translate into tangible improvements in the lives of targeted individuals.

The website of the RCA Community of Practice is a place to share the latest practices and critique of this evolving approach, as well as studies and current work in progress.
