Engaging participation : the use of video as a tool in rural development. Workshop proceedings, Bagamoyo, Tanzania, 1996
Abstract
A collection of papers from a workshop focussing on various participatory communication approaches, including video, radio and theatre.
The majority of papers are case studies drawn from both rural and urban development settings which describe situations where video or other communication media were used to give people a voice rather than a message. The case studies include both those situations where people participated in the production of a video and /or also those where the video was constructed in order to engage participation.

Three approaches to participative inquiry
Abstract
This chapter deals with three approaches to research, co-operative inquiry, participatory action research and action inquiry. Each approach is taken separately and the underlying assumptions and practice is set out. The text recognises that these are three separate traditions and then explores some of the similarities and differences among the three approaches, making critical comparisons. The author "attempts to show how the three approaches complement each other, so that together they stand as the begining of a robust paradigm of research with people".
